In 2001 my best friend and I began our first ceramic handprint business in the Washington DC suburb of Centreville, Virginia. We wanted to base our new business on cherished memories of our families’ early years, our love of beautiful things to enhance our homes, and a modest amount of artistic ability! Mudpies Keepsakes fulfilled these interests and allowed us to spend time with our families. (www.mudpieskeepsakes.com)
We developed our product by practicing on our own 4 children, then ranging in age from 6 months to 3 years. We researched and selected colors and trimmings to reflect the current trends and to satisfy our own preferences and that of our friends’ and clients’.
We quickly could see we were on to a good thing! Our clients consistently tell us how much they cherish their keepsakes and are so thankful they have had the opportunity to preserve this sweet time in the lives of their children - in a beautiful product that they are proud to hang in any room of their home.
For 5 wonderfully crazy years, Johanna and I worked together building our business, sharing ideas, and perfecting the process. Since that time my family has grown by 1, and we both embraced moves across the country. Now residing in two separate California cities we hope to carry on the tradition: Johanna, with Posh Baby Prints (www.poshbabyprints.com) in San Diego, and I, with Sweetprints. Mudpies was purchased by a loyal client and is still going strong.
I look forward to delighting Sacramento-area families with the careful detailing and exceptional service that is my signature.
I can’t wait to meet you and create memories for your family very soon,
Cindy Gillingham
